Caps to Non-Economic Damages Would Limit Patient Recourse

By Ankin Law Office LLC – Chicago, Illinois

The United States House of Representatives has recently voted on legislation that would limit the amount of non-economic damages patients could seek to just $250,000. The Protecting Access to Care Act (PACA) passed the House by a vote of 218 to 210. The vote was largely along party lines and the legislation now moves to the Senate where it is likely to pass by a slim margin.
